Emergency numbers and help

Mongolia uses three-digit emergency numbers, with a separate general emergency line run by the national emergency management agency.
Fire 101; Police 102; Ambulance 103; general emergency 105
UK travel advice confirms the police number and states that someone able to speak English should be available on it. From a foreign mobile, dial it with the country code.

For a medical emergency the instruction is to call the ambulance number and ask for an ambulance.

If you are referred to a medical facility, contact your insurer quickly, because hospitals expect most of the cost in advance and evacuation must be authorised.

- Save 101, 102, 103 and 105 to your phone before you land, and write them on paper for when the battery dies.
- Save your embassy's Ulaanbaatar number and your insurer's 24-hour line alongside them.
- Tell your guide or camp who to call on your behalf, and give them your insurance policy number; in the countryside they will reach help faster than you can.
- Share your itinerary with someone at home, including which nights you expect to be out of signal.
