Alpine Ascents International

Seattle, Washington, United States · 1 tours

Seattle mountaineering guide service and climbing school running Seven Summits expeditions, Himalayan and Alpine climbs, treks and Cascades courses, with its own gear shop. Its history page starts the story in 1986 with founder Todd Burleson but does not state a founding date; the same page says the company began its 40th year of operations in 2026. The Mongolia page says the company has been visiting Mongolia for 17 years and that its 2026 expedition, with six climbers, had 100% summit success. One Mongolia product was listed on 2026-09-23, with one 2027 departure led by Vern Tejas.

How you book

Climbers should have completed a multi-day mountaineering course (such as the company’s 6, 8, 12 or 13 day courses) or have equivalent skills; a strong performance on a 3-day Mt. Baker or Mt. Rainier climb is also accepted. Climbers must be able to carry about 45 lb (20 kg). Land prices are per person, twin share; a single room supplement applies if no roommate is matched, and private rooms are only available in hotels. A day-by-day itinerary is sent with the confirmation letter. The company can arrange extra hotel nights and transfers at extra cost.

A $700 deposit, including a $300 non-refundable registration fee, is due at registration. The balance is due 120 days before the start, by cheque, wire transfer, ACH, or card with a 3% surcharge; a $25 wire fee applies where relevant. Unpaid balances after that deadline risk the loss of the place.

Cancelling 120 or more days before the start refunds everything except the $300 registration fee; cancelling 90 to 119 days before refunds 50%, less the registration fee; no refund within 89 days. Requests must be in writing. The company asks travellers to buy trip cancellation insurance within 21 days of booking.

Licence and membership

No travel licence or seller-of-travel number is published. The footer states the company is an authorised mountain guide service of Denali National Park and Preserve and Mount Rainier National Park.
