Birdwatching and wildlife holiday company (Heatherlea (Scotland) Ltd), employee-owned since 2021 when its founders Kevin and Caryl Shaw set up an employee ownership trust, based at its own hotel, The Mountview, in Nethy Bridge; its about page says it started in Strathspey in 1991 and now runs trips in Scotland and on every continent. One Mongolia tour was listed on 2026-09-23, a new birding and snow leopard trip with a single August 2027 departure led by Mike Coleman.

How you book

Tours can be booked online by choosing passengers and room types (up to four guests; larger parties contact the office), or provisionally by phone, confirmed in writing within seven days. No email address is published; enquiries go through a contact form or phone (Monday-Friday 9:00-17:30, Saturday 10:30-17:30). Flights are from London; other airports or land-only may be quoted. Flight-inclusive trips include a pre-flight airport hotel and lounge, subject to terms.

The Mongolia tour's deposit is GBP 1,500; deposits are not refundable once a booking is confirmed. The balance is due at least 12 weeks before the holiday starts. Changes to a booking (for example hotel or passenger names) carry a GBP 40 administration fee per booking; a change of departure date also costs GBP 40 unless requested within 60 days of departure, when cancellation charges apply.

90 days or more before departure: all deposit monies forfeited. 89-30 days: 90% of the total cost. 29 days or less: 100%. Airline charges for non-refundable tickets are added.
