UK cycling holiday company (Saddle Skedaddle Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne) selling guided and self-guided bike tours in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, with a separate US-facing site that shows dollar prices. It sells one Mongolia tour: a 16-day guided mountain-bike trip through the Khangai Mountains and the Orkhon Valley, camping on 10 of the 14 nights. A Skedaddle cycle leader runs the trip with a local crew of cycling guide/mechanic, cooks and drivers. How you book

Booking is made online by choosing a departure date on the trip page, by phone or by post. The booking is confirmed once the deposit is taken and the booking conditions are accepted. The trip page says a private departure of this tour can be arranged for families or groups of friends. Travellers are asked not to book flights before contacting Skedaddle. Callers from North America can use the toll-free number 1-888-414-6437. Travellers must bring their own sleeping bag and sleeping mat for the camping nights.

The deposit is £400 on the UK site or $500 on the US site. The trip page says nothing more is due until 60 days before departure; the general booking conditions say the balance falls due 30 to 90 days before departure depending on the trip. Bike hire and the single room supplement are extra, and their prices show once a date is selected.

Cancellation must be made in writing. Up to the balance due date the deposit is forfeited; between the balance due date and 30 days before departure, 50% of the trip price is refunded; less than 30 days before departure there is no refund. Skedaddle may cancel a departure that does not reach its minimum numbers, usually telling clients 4 to 8 weeks before and no later than 20 days before departure, and then offers a full refund or a comparable alternative.
